How It Started
Holidays Getaway began as a shared spreadsheet of notes between two families comparing itineraries before a group trip to Portugal. What started as a way to avoid duplicated research turned into a full site once we realised how much of the family-travel advice online was written by people without kids, or hadn't been updated since a destination changed entirely.
Every guide on this site is written after an actual trip — flights booked, meltdowns included — rather than assembled from press releases and stock photography.
What We Believe
Good family travel writing should be honest about what's genuinely worth the queue, what to skip, and how to pace a day around nap times, school-age stamina, or teenage patience. We'd rather tell you an attraction isn't worth it than pad out a list to look comprehensive.
